...NASCAR stock car racing had its roots in bootlegging during Prohibition in the 1920s and 1930s? Bootleggers needed fast cars and skilled drivers to "run moonshine" and evade police. They often modified their cars for even better performance. When Prohibition was repealed some of these drivers, hooked on fast cars and the thrill of the race, continued to tinker with their cars and soon began racing each other in organized exhibitions.

NASCAR Tickets - Sparta KY

NASCAR races will be held on June 28, 29 and June 30, 2012 as well as September 21, 2012 at the Kentucky Speedway near Sparta, KY. This is a new city added to the NASCAR circuit last year and the race is called the Quaker State 400 and will be held on June 30, 2012. Don't miss your favorite NASCAR drivers in Sparta, KY.   5. Qualifying and practice sessions are open to the public with an event ticket.
