Next to Normal is a rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt. Next To Normal is about a mother stricken with bipolar disorder and the impact her condition has on her family.

The musical won 2009 Tony Awards for Best Original Score for melody maker Tom Kitt and wordsmith and Brian Yorkey. The show also garnered Tony Awards for Best Orchestration (Michael Starobin and Tom Kitt) and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for Alice Ripley.

In all the show was nominated for a total of 11 Tony Awards. Nest to Normal will be playing at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, CA throughout 2010.
